Why you shouldn’t feel guilty indulging in this pleasure

Who would like a decadent, creamy hot chocolate guilt free? Ummm, Me Please!!
I have been drinking this morning delight for sometime and now feel a touch of guilt for keeping it all to myself.

What four ingredients make up this cup of bliss?

Almond milk, cacao powder, a spoon of raw honey, with a dash of maca powder.

And here is why you shouldn’t feel guilty:

Maca Powder is actually a ground-up root found in the mountains of Peru (from the radish family). It is rich in amino acids, phosphorous, zinc, magnesium, iron, calcium, B, C & E Vitamins just to name a few. Add some to your beverage when TOM is in town (Time Of Month … wink wink) as maca helps to relieve menstrual issues by regulating hormones & in turn, reducing mood swings and anxiety. If TOM is completely wearing you out, this potent potion will give you the extra kick you’ll need as maca is great at increasing energy and stamina. Speaking of stamina, ladies and gentlemen, maca is an excellent libido booster!! Add maca to your hot chocolate and I promise it will be the most pleasure you will get without the risk of getting pregnant! (Evidence of this is anecdotal & has not been proven). Have I given you enough reason to give this a go? Good.

Just a side note maca should be taken in small amounts. In fact if you are going to use it, start with a teaspoon and build it up slowly.

Cacao, if you’re a chocolate enthusiast, should be your very best friend. Cacao has made a lot of headway recently as the new ‘super food’ to take over the health industry…and I can see why. Cacao (not cocoa) is a bit like coffee in that it acts as a stimulant (which is why its great in the mornings). It is also naturally sugar free, and like our good friend maca, is an aphrodisiac. Combine the two and you will add new meaning to the phrase ‘morning glory’. This pleasure powder is packed with antioxidants that help to protect you against countless diseases. Cacao can also help with ravenous sugar cravings, but be careful because it will also encourage cravings of other sorts ;).

There has been speculation lately about the negative side effects of cacao. As far as I am aware there is no scientific evidence to substantiate these claims. So if you are worried then speak to your local nutrition specialist.

Raw Honey: promotes digestion, possesses anti-viral, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties,  is packed with powerful antioxidants and also stabilises and balances blood sugar. Raw honey has antibiotic properties and people often use it to soothe sore throats.

Almond Milk is now exploding as the new dairy milk substitute (although it doesn’t provide as much calcium and protein so it should not be considered a full substitute). Almond milk has vitamin E, protein, iron, fiber, calcium, antioxidants and is low in carbs (which means it wont increase your blood sugar). It’s smooth in texture so it provides the perfect base for this love potion!

 I find that this is great for keeping me regular (is that too much information? …sorry).
